Life-Sized Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Animatronic Statues
When I was a little kid, there was really nothing more exciting than seeing the CBS Special Presentation logo come suddenly spinning onto the television screen in December, because that meant my parents' primetime show just got preempted for one of many classic holiday specials made just for kids. While today's kids can watch just about anything they want, anytime they want, and anywhere they want, things really don't feel as memorable as when you got only one shot every year to see your favorite Christmas special. How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the Frosty the Snowman cartoon, and the He-Man and She-Ra Christmas Special were probably my all-time favorites. Thankfully and unfortunately, I discovered the Star Wars Holiday Special much, much later on.
Easily the most popular television holiday special of all time has to be the Rankin/Bass stop-motion puppet classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Like a long-standing holiday tradition, it still airs on television every Christmas season, except it recently jumped ship from CBS and returned back to its original home at NBC.
Well, anyways Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Bumble the Abominable Snow Monster, the Arctic prospector Yukon Cornelius, and the wannabe dentist Hermey the Elf, who cruelly pulled out all of Bumble's teeth, have been brought out of the television special and onto your front lawn as life-sized animatronic statues that move, light up, and speak... or make growling sounds. Hmm, where's the life-sized animatronic of Sam the Snowman? That would be the most iconic of any of these to make. Well, at least we didn't get any weird animatronic Misfit Toys. Check out the videos below to see them all in action. Happy Holidays! π΄π£βοΈπ¦·
