What came first? The plant or the egg? These cool new Egglings from designer Jun Inui in Japan are little plants that you can hatch from an egg, a handmade unglazed ceramic egg that is. Just choose either a basil, strawberry, or cactus Eggling, crack the top of the eggshell off with a spoon to reveal the potting soil and seeds inside, sprinkle with water, and then place it in a sunny spot on its terracotta tray. They're perfect to give as gifts, mix in with real eggs for an unexpected prank, or just to have as a whimsical conversation piece in your kitchen or windowsill at home or on your office desktop.
