LEGO The Endurance Ship - 3,011 Pieces!
"Men wanted for hazardous journey. Small wages, bitter cold, long months of complete darkness, constant danger, safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in case of success." - Sir Ernest Shackleton
If you love history, epic expeditions, famous explorers, Antarctica, tales of incredible leadership and human resilience, model ships, and playing with LEGOs, then check out this cool new yet quite 1915-inspired LEGO Icons - The Endurance. This giant LEGO building set lets you construct Sir Ernest Shackleton's three-masted, steam-powered Endurance polar ship that got trapped in ice, crushed, and sank off the coast of Antarctica during a treacherous expedition. The entire crew abandoned the ship, departed on lifeboats, and travelled for 6 days on the frigid open sea to Elephant Island. All survived.
While not quite as challenging as Sir Ernest Shackleton's legendary Antarctic expedition, this still quite difficult 3,011-piece LEGO set lets you build a scaled-down model of the majestic Endurance in all its glory. It features 3 towering masts, 10 full sails, a detailed multi-level deck, removable sections for easy access to port and starboard cabins and the ship's steam engine, intricate rigging, a flying red ensign flag, 4 detachable lifeboats, a chained bower anchor, a ship's wheel that actually operates the rudder, and a sturdy stand to put it proudly on display. It's perfect for explorers, sea captains, ship builders, bored researchers in Antarctica, or just anyone who loves nautical decor or needs something to do while stuck inside on a freezing cold winter's day. Check out the videos below to see it in action and learn more about the expedition. ๐ฅถ
