Sure you can buy mass-produced pickles at the grocery store, but in old-fashioned general stores you used to be able to (and still can if you can find one) buy preserved pickles from a rustic wooden barrel. Those pickles were amazing. Well, now you can learn how to pickle your own cucumbers in a wooden barrel too using this cool new yet quite old-fashioned Oak Pickle Barrel. This generous 10 liter wooden barrel with a matching lid is constructed from thick white oak staves that are all bound tight together with stainless steel hoop bands. Inside the cask you can pickle or ferment many different types of foods like cucumbers, cabbage, beets, apples, mushrooms, and much, much more. The best thing about using a wooden barrel instead of a modern ceramic crock is that, besides looking cool and decorative, the oak wood imparts a slight bit of its flavor, making the pickles inside even more authentically old school. There's also a ton of recipes and videos online to help guide you through the process. πŸ₯’πŸ›’οΈπŸ˜‹
