Tempo Drop - Mysterious Weather Forecasting Storm Glass
This cool new yet quite 19th century nautical-inspired Tempo Drop Storm Glass is a sealed teardrop-shaped glass container that is thought to be able to predict the weather depending on whether it's clear, cloudy, or has crystals forming inside, just like Admiral Fitzroy observed with his storm glass on the HMS Beagle. After a little bit of research, it seems that even to this day scientists aren't exactly positive how the distilled water, camphor, ethanol, and other liquids inside the storm glass are able to react based on the current weather conditions, but possible theories include temperature changes, pressure changes, or even electromagnetic changes in the atmosphere could be the cause. So even though it's very possible that it's not always accurate, it's still a really cool and unique curio to put on display. Check out the video below to see it in action. βοΈ
