This cool new Alessi Pulcina is a stunning stovetop espresso maker/moka pot designed by Italian architect Michele de Lucchi that combines sleek form and pure function to make an intensely full-bodied cup of espresso. Stepped-up layers of cast aluminum form the exterior while a uniquely shaped heater on the inside ensures that it automatically stops filtering at just the right moment during the final filtering stage to prevent a burnt and bitter aftertaste, all while preserving the finest qualities of the coffee. Its design is inspired by a baby chick (pulcino translates to chick in Italian) with a sharp V-shaped beak-like spout that perfectly cuts through the coffee to prevent drips and can be heated right on the stovetop, no modern electronic wizardry required. Even better, when not in use, it can be simply left out in the open for all to admire like a sculptural objet d’art in your kitchen. It's available in 3 sizes with red or black handles and is also available in a stealthy all-black finish as well. Check out the video below to see it in action. Cool, huh? β˜•οΈ
