Were you aware that cute little ocean starfish are considered to be an invasive species that are disrupting, destroying, and causing up to $400 million a year in damages to marine wildlife and eco-systems, like the Great Coral Reef? Me neither. It seems that many governments are trying to dispose of these pesky predatory starfish at great cost, so this Korean company STAR's TECH CO has decided to take them instead and upcycle the bio-waste into something that helps solve another economic and environmental destroyer, winter de-icing.

This cool new ECO-ST is the world's first eco-friendly de-icer that is formulated from starfish extracts. This innovative snow and ice melter is 166% more effective than sodium chloride, minimizes damage to the environment, is safe for pets and kids, causes near zero corrosion to metal, and will not cause cracks or damage concrete. The highly porous structure of the starfish extract absorbs harmful chemicals to protect driveways, roads, and plants, making this quite an interesting new solution to clearing away the winter snow and ice more safely.
