Pleo Dinosaur - Autonomous Robotic Life Form (Video)
"Dinosaurs and man... two species separated by 65 million years of evolution, have suddenly been thrown into the mix together. How can we possibly have the slightest idea of what to expect?"
I guess extinction isn't permanent, because a baby dinosaur has returned and his name is Pleo. Although not a living & breathing dino, Pleo is actually the first truly autonomous robotic life form based on a 1 week old Camarasaurus dinosaur. Basically, in other words, Pleo is the coolest robotic pet ever developed.
Pleo the dinosaur uses a sophisticated sensory system that enables him to see, sense touch, and detect objects using a color camera, sound sensors, 2 infrared sensors, 14 motors, over 100 gears, 8 touch sensors, and an orientation sensor. Using all of these sensors allows Pleo to mimic life and think, act and develop a unique personality independently based on his experiences with you and the world around him. Cute designer robotic pets like Pleo could one day replace the dog and cat as the family pet.
Check out the demonstration videos below to see Pleo in action and let us know in the Comments if you think, just like in Jurassic Park, if autonomous life, uh... finds a way...
