RoboCop ED-209 Christmas Ornament
Nothing says "Happy Holidays" quite like a festive Christmas ornament inspired by shocking 1980s robotic ultra-violence! Enter the cool new yet quite 1987-inspired RoboCop ED-209 Ornament, a delightful yet deadly nod to the Enforcement Droid Series 209, better known as ED-209, from the awesome RoboCop movies. Well, the first two are awesome at least.
When I was a little kid, I got to see RoboCop in theaters, and let me tell you, the infamous ED-209 boardroom scene left quite the lasting impression. In just a few long and intense seconds, I learned several good life lessons: the devastating impact of bullets (or in this case, an overwhelming hail of them) on the human body, minor technological glitches should not be overlooked, greedy mega-corporations only care about one thing, crime, corruption, and utter incompetence tend to infest everything all the way to the top, avoid volunteering for anything, brutal, snarling robots with superior firepower were going to kill us all, and that the future seemed really, really grim. RoboCop pretty much nailed its predictions about the world, minus the actual murderous robots... so far.
Anyways, this year I will be lovingly hanging this keepsake ED-209 robot ornament from the branches of my Christmas tree in remembrance of my lost innocence in 1987 and in celebration of absurd out-of-control seasonal consumerism as I settle in next to a crackling fire to watch this timeless sci-fi / action / dark satirical comedy / horror / documentary flick once again. Hmm, and then I will make it a double-feature with an actual Christmas movie classic like: Invasion USA, Die Hard 2: Die Harder, The Long Kiss Goodnight, First Blood, or Lethal Weapon, because we all know they're Christmas movies too, right? ππ€ π₯π΅
