It's hard to believe, but this year marks the 60th anniversary of the beloved animated television special It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, which first aired on October 27, 1966, on the CBS network. It aired annually on television every October until 2019, when the tradition finally ended, and the rights went to Apple TV... and now the world continues to slowly rot like a front-porch jack-o'-lantern. Between the phones turning us into zombies and the snatching away of a time-honored wholesome tradition... great job, Apple!

Well, now that this classic animated special is no longer pre-empting our parents' prime-time television shows in October, we can still bask in composer Vince Guaraldi's warm, jazzy autumnal score all Halloween, er, I mean Spooky season long with this cool new yet quite retro It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown Soundtrack - Zoetrope Vinyl.

This limited-edition It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown vinyl score features zoetrope artwork on each side, depicting classic scenes that come to life as you spin the record at 45 RPMs and record them at 30fps with your phone's video camera. The special's complete jazz score is on this vinyl, including favorites like "Graveyard Theme," "The Great Pumpkin Waltz," and "Linus and Lucy," along with a selection of rare outtakes. The only thing really missing is the Great Pumpkin itself... and maybe a rock. 🎃🪨

Hmm, I see Apple found a way to get their phones involved here too, but at least this is kind of fun and magical. Check out the video below to see it in action.
