I don't know how long it takes for a bunch of green bananas to go from the tree to my countertop, but I know that it only takes hours to turn bright yellow and then a day or two for them to instantly turn brown on me. Well, it turns out that the culprit behind bananas ripening at warp speed at home is ethylene gas that's being absorbed by the crown, the stem part where the banana bunch all meet. So protect the crown from absorbing ethylene gas and keep your bananas fresh for much longer (and quite stylish looking too) with these cool new Banana-Saving Knit Hats.
