Looks like Mork got an upgrade. The Oculas ($45,000) is a new multi-sensory, multi-purpose, & multi-tainment isolation pod where you can go to work, play, relax, sleep, hide or get your Darth Vader helmet changed (maybe not). Would you pay $45,000, for a luxury pod with the latest technology, comfort and audio-visual wizardry? I don't know about you, but I would love to have one of these and simply escape away immersed in the experience of my favorite movie, video game or song with no one able to bother me. It's like the bathroom, but with more to do! Let us know what you think in the Comments!  -  58 Comments Tweet This on Twitter Share on FaceBook

It looks too claustrophic and cramped. Why would you want to sit in this thing for any length of time. Go outside people!

Looks like the nap-pods that are cropping up around big cities. But I can’t locate an air intake. Maybe a breathing tube will be in version 2.0

It’s fully integrated with air conditioning and circulation, and is also sound proof at the same time. How cool is that?

I could really use something like this in my life, but I agree that the space inside looks a little cramped. Instead of using the little pod for movies, the internet, and for sitting in the dark, I would rather have a little quiet space to read also. I need something to place my book upon, and to maybe stack some other books for studying. plus, is there a light in there? I don’t want to sit in the dark the whole time that i am in there. I think that you could probably just go to a hardware store, and custom make your own pod, and It would turn out better, because it would be tailored to your needs, and it would be cheaper. Not everyone wants to just rot their eyeballs in front of a screen all the time. to the makers of this pod, keep the readers in mind!

Maybe if it had a toilet, you could spend more “productive” time in there !

a better idea
You could also buy a old junked car, paint the windows black and run an extension cord to the inside for alot less. Plus this way would allow you to have one that fit you perfectly so its not just limited to those that are of average weight. Good idea but 45,000 is kinda alot for something that doesn’t go anywhere at all.

I agree. I think that the car idea is genious. I would use an old shaggin’ wagon with shag carpet, and I would set up my stereo, a small refridgerator, and a small bookshelf. oh yeah, and effective lighting. This way, your isolation pod can also isolate you with another person, get my drift?

I seriously doubt anyone who can afford to pay $45,000 for an entertainment center would befriend a person who can’t spell or properly punctuate.
