I don't know if I really need a light for my desk, but I would make an exception for the cool Moppel Space Man LED Light. Moppels are a family of flexible LED lighting stick figures that can adhere to most surfaces using either suction cups or magnets. I really like this space man one the best. How many times have you needed to write something important down and either couldn't find some paper or a pen or both?
