It's made from a patented aluminum alloy to allow that conducts and retains heat. It's heatproof to 1000°F, so you could use it to cook foods like nachos or fajitas on the grill, stovetop or oven and it will all stay warm when served. You could also serve chilled dishes, by refrigerating or freezing the tray before serving.
