Cool or though i accidentaly melted a plastic garden chair on one and had to chuck a bucket of water on it although all that was left with a small globuol of white on the grass. NOTE I AM NOT A PYROMANIAC.

I used one of these years back when I was into camping. Not this brand but the same idea. All it is is a block of magnesium with a spark/striker bar on the back. Magnesium is very flamable and burns very hot but very quickly.

I have one its great, rain or shine, doesnt matter. If you cant seem to get it lit. Try using a cotton ball with some vasaline on it. Store them in an empty file container. It will burn long and hot!!

I had soem tropuble with the firesteel, I would not light in the rain or any conditions, and the only thing that I’ve mamanged to get a fire started with it is tissues.

Swedish Firesteels are coated so they will not get on your hands or light in your pocket. Thes work well in the rain or if wet. I have one in each backpack and daypack.
