I think this might actually work and would give it a try if I could ever find it. Hopefully they still plan on selling it.

What they do is compress the seasoning, and seal it in with a food-grade shellac. It\'s got roughly the same aerodynamic properties of shot, but much less weight.

I think it will work, but I think it will have to be around 25 yards or less to work. It claims up to 45 yards (maybe on a small bird).

The ballistics may be only slightly inferior. Remember, people used to load their shotguns with rock salt all the time. It may not kill a human, but a bird? Very likely. The shells are also probably more densely packed than the old rock salt pellets. My only worry would be sections of the bird being overly salty or seasoned - otherwise, interesting idea! It's worth a shot. sorry. couldn't resist.
