To Reinoud, there is a nice explanation of how the MOVA Globe works available in the Globe University section of World Globe Universe. (See the appended URL.) As for the question asked by Guest, It is my understanding the magnetic field of the 4.5 inch MOVA Globe extends out in all directions from the globe and can affect the operation of electronic devices regardless of the relative position. (Recognize, the field strength varies depending upon the orientation of/to the magnet.) I had the opportunity to speak with the inventor of the MOVA Globe about magnetic interference and he ran some calculations that indicated to avoid interference with sensitive electronic equipment, the unshielded magnet in the MOVA Globe should not be placed closer than about 12 to 14 inches from the electronic device. I don't know if the magnetic field of a MOVA Globe is strong enough to actually damage a TV or not.

This globe is very neat. The booklet states not to place anything near the north pole that can be affected or damaged by a magnetic field such as a TV screen. I am curious if the MOVA is place ON TOP of the TV if damage may result. Any idea?

The globe is utterly amazing. I've only had mine for a couple of days and I can't take my eyes off of it. Every public school science classroom should have a globe to pique the interest of students.RDP
