<description>963D24G my hubby and I were given a weather stick from maine as a house warming gift and we are enjoying watching it each day. Ours does it backwards tho. <description>They do work. Weather sticks are common in Norway, where people can just go out into the forest and get their own stick, cutting the top off a dead tree and removing the bark (dead trees only since it has to be really dry wood). <description>I actually bought one of these weather sticks for my husband and it worked! It&amp;amp;#8217;s kinda fun to know what the weather will be like by a stick on the side of our house.

<description>does it really work? You always see them in cartoons when they want to drill a well or something and it points down. Is that the same thing?
