I have bought two Robots. One four years ago, and the new one just a month ago. We have three cats, so it wound up costing me $6.25 a month to have the litter box cleaned every time a cat used it.It is a truly fantastic appliance. Well designed, sturdily engineered, and high quality. My Norwegian Forest Cat mix is 15 pounds, and used to perch on the edge of the litterbox. Hey Ya\'ll,What is the best litter and litter box for a cat that pees on the back of the litter box? I have gone through 2 of the littermaid automatic systems and no matter how much I cleaned the back portion the motor would wear out from the litter clumping on the \"teeth\" where she would urinate. I am using a plain covered box that is not automatic and mixing tidy cat with crystals and also buying extra crystal cat litter to put towards the back of the box. This is not working well either. Please offer some suggestions. Thanks

You must sell CatGenie or Breeze System. No way have you owned the Litter Robot. It's not appropriate for cats over 20 pounds, I'll give you that. On the contrary, cats like the privacy the Litter Robot gives them. The only time I notice odor is right after the cat leaves. It's built like an appliance. I pay over $300 for a dishwasher to avoid doing dishes in the sink, why not spend $300 to avoid scooping?

Sorry. This product sucks. CatGenie or Breeze System are the best. Most cats will not get in this thing. And as they get older and fatter, they won't be able to jump up this thing. It's also too dark and too claustrophobic for most, if not all, cats.

I have the Litter Robot, and it works great. It is absolutely better than the Scoopfree (expensive refill cartridges) or the Littermaid (breaks easily, very messy). Yes, we have tried those 2 brands of litterbox as well. The only problem we experience with the Litter Robot is that our cats like to stick their heads back into the box to see what is going on while the unit is trying to rotate. This, of course, stops the rotation. The unit then,resets itself and starts again after a while, unless one of the cats decides to check everything out again. We're really pleased with the performance of the Litter Robot, but wish that our curious kitties would just give it a chance to clean itself.

I just bought the Cat Genie and I think that for the money it's 100% better than this machine. Apparently, with this litter box you still have to clean it (even if only once a week) and deal with the waste. With Cat Genie you literally never come in touch with cat's waste, since it cleans the granules (it doesn't use real litter), desinfects them, rinse them and even dries them! then, it flushes all the waste into the toilet, you flush and everything it's gone... It's the best invention ever for cat lovers! You should give it a try, you won't regret it.

I just got one of these and my cat won't get out of it. I had a scoopfree but had to send it back because it smelled really bad after 10 days and the cartridges are rediculously expensive!

My sister uses those LitterMaid things- which have been good to her, but tend to break down after about a year or two. I\'ve wanted to talk her into something more high-end like this. I\'d almost talked her into it, but then I let slip the fact that if she had one, I\'d have to paint it to look like the Death Star, and she changed her mind again...

It sounds like it's loud.. other than that it looks awesome. I think my cats would be more interested in watching it spin than pooing in it though :) They'd probably take turns going in and out and making it spin. That's another concern, what if there are 2 cats and one goes in right after the other... can it sense when there's a cat in there or does it only sense when the cat leaves?

My cat has been using one for 5 years and its the best thing I ever bought. It actually saves money because I use much much less litter. I only have to change the bag once week and the litter every three months.

I've had this cat box for a year. This is so much better than any other cat boxes (even electric ones) I've ever used. Less odor, less maintenance, less mess. All I have to do is to change the liner in the drawer once or twice a week. Although it is expensive for a cat box, I think it's worth the money. I got it for my birthday.
