I would definitely be careful with putting too many items crossways in the block. Even with just a few items in ours it split the wood down the right hand side. We attempted to wood glue it back together, but it split worse once we put the black center back in place. I also would recommend washing the inset every other month or it will get stuck inside the wood part and become impossible to move. I do like it though.
