The guest of January 29 has it all wrong. Art does not have to anger one. In fact, the function of liturgical art is to bless others. Also, the Guest of April 15 seems to think that those who disagree are not friends. Actually friends are able to disagree. It is one of the privilages of having friends. Though they disagree, they embrace one another. They love the counterpoint and exchange of ideas.

I appreciate the words of a-seminarian-with-too-much-time-on-Sunday. I believe he is corrrect with all five of his comments. However, I especially appreciate his astute observation of number 4. Indeed, the plain Latin cross is a symbol of torture and death, but it becomes more than that in this case. The metaphor of this brush that removes dirt has nothing to do with morality; rather it has all to do with the removal of the filth of sin. That is the message of the cross and is unwittingly intensified with the "cruciform brush." Thank you seminarian for your insightful wisdom.

OK, here are a few things: 1. the symbol of the cross is not necessarily Christian. The Celts, for instance, have a cross symbol that was developed and used long before Christians had any influence on them. 2. the cross, in the case of the one that killed Christ, was an instrument of death. If Jesus had have died in the Old American West, he would have been lynched. So, yes, the cross in that respect is the same as a guillotine. 3. what does the cross represent to a Christian? It represents the death of Christ. Why did Christ die? He took on the punishment for the sin of the world (humans). Why did he need to do that? Because \"without the shedding of blood there is no remission...\" from sin (Hebrews 9:22). There is even more language in the bible that equates Christ\'s blood and sacrifice with cleansing. Hebrews 10:22 makes a reference to the sprinkling of blood on the people as a symbol being cleansed by it. My point in all this is, blood (not literally, but symbolically) cleanses or cleans. So, for the Christian, the cross is the catalyst for that sacrifice that allowed for the cleansing of sin. 4. In a way, a cross brush is a fitting symbol because of what it means. The great irony is, someone attempting to be disrespectful to what the cross has come to mean to some people, has in a way captured the reality of what the cross in fact is. 5. By the way, a crucifix has a person on the cross. A cruciform does not have a person on it, so this is a cruciform brush not a crucifix brush.

I am surprised by many things written above: excuses for inaccurate spelling, disregard for the sacred, but mostly an incorrect reference to a crucifix. A crucifix has a corpus upon it; a cross does not. \"Cleanliness is next to Godliness,\" has nothing to do with the cross. Understanding the cross of Christ is vital in comprehending why He visited earth to become our Savior and has nothing to do with morality and human conduct. It has to do with God\'s action not ours.

In the vampire movies or most monster movies, someone is always holding up a Crucifix to ward away evil. Dirt, grime and germs are just as evil and very real, so a Crucifix shaped brush is needed as well

Ok Berkana, two things about the spelling issues, first, I work the night shift maintaining planes for the Air Force, so how I spell somthing after an all night shift as I am waiting to go home and sleep at 7am should not be an issue, I got my point across, secondly, I learned how to spell in the same government funded pub;ic education institution that teaches creationism, so, in response my educational downfalls, I think its very appropriate to wipe my military boots off at the end of the day on a crucifix brush.

I have two comments to make. What is up with all the bad spelling here? "Symble"?! "Sence"?! Come on now: we live in a society with public education!Secondly, I dare the makers of the brush to make one with Muhammad's face on it, or shape lit like the Arabic word for "Allah". I dare you. Or are you a fool that only shows respect in light of fear? Come on now! I thought Green Head was about innovative products. This product is nothing but insult. I personally find it very funny, I thought it was to wipe muddy boots on. I will get one soon enough. And you know what? If it came in a crescent, I would buy that too, cause it's all funny to me(and anyone else with a sence of humor.)

I don't think this brush was really meant for cleaning, it's just an art piece that represents the old saying "Cleanliness is next to Godliness". And to the poster above, if Jesus did come back, do you really think he would want to see Crucifixes, a capital punishment device meant to kill, everywhere?

Yes, it so offensive. Crucifixes should not be used for cleaning. Rather they should be put on top of every christian building, so when jesus returns he'll look around and think "Ah, good times".On the topic of the brush, it seems a little impractical, with the awkward shape and all.

OK well I just have to point out that while it's been mentioned that this brush is offensive as a rule, its shape still needed to be clarified (jesus' symble - i beleive those were their exact words)...
