I must agree with "guest". Real, properly distilled absinthe it one of the best drinks available. And when properly prepared will taste like nothing else. There are probably as many bad absinthes out there as there are good. A good rule when purchasing absinthe is to avoid those from the Czech Republic ans stick with the French and Swiss made. As far as thujone and secondary effects, take a look at this site. It has a lot of accurate information: <a href="http://blog.lib.umn.edu/alah0007/causesabsintheeffect/">Absinthe Effects</a>

Authentic French Absinthe Fountain Set
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
This video not only shows the WRONG way to prepare the green fairy but the comments (some) show ignorance of absinthe. Properly prepared and properly sipped - as many commenters obviously know - absinthe is a delight and a true pleasure to enjoy. Water (ice water only) can be very slowly poured onto the sugar but to really get the louche, a fountain is almost a necessity. Of course, absinthe glasses do not come with the bottle of absinthe - you must buy them individually or as a part of a set. They are not cheap glasses from the dollar store - "pontalier" glasses are really best but you can use a cheap dollar store piece of #@*% if you are too cheap to buy them. Buy good quality absinthe, buy a fountain, buy absinthe glasses and spoons and do it right. You will repeatedly go back to this grand drink whenever you have the time to relax and enjoy it.

Authentic French Absinthe Fountain Set
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
Ok first off the absinthe products we have in the U.S. are REAL. Lucid, Kubler(exact same recipe as the European version), La Fee(same exact formula as European version) La Clandestine(same as European formula) and countless others comming or are already here. Our stupid ass media dont know how to report on anything, we have the EXACT SAME LAWS regarding the mythical thujone content, we are allowed up to 10mg/l of thujone, just like European countries. The only extra law they have is anything over the 10mg/l has to have either "Bitter" or "Amer" on the bottle and then they are allowed up to 35mg/l. BUT THUJONE DOES NOT MATTER ANYWAY THAT IS A MYTH. Thujone is tasteless the "bitterness" in absinthe comes from the Grand Wormwood, thujone is NOT responsible for the "secondary effects" it is the combination of QUALITY herbs and alcohol, these idiots that promote thujone or that say the stuff in the U.S. is not real are idiots(news sources included) and need to take 5 minutes and research absinthe, I hate stupidity like this. Oh ya the traditional ritual uses no fire either.

Authentic French Absinthe Fountain Set
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
Private Jim probably had some piss poor Czech 'absinth' and drank it straight (or 'neat' if you're an absintheur)- If you tried some quality REAL absinthe distilled by a reputable distillery like Combier from Jade (their PF 1901 is incredible) you'd most likely take off your hater shades. Absinthe is a wonderful drink when properly prepared. Remember kids, only Czechs burn their 'absinth' because it's not worth drinking. All you need is water and free time.

Authentic French Absinthe Fountain Set
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
its a shame they don\'t sell it with proper absinthe glasses, with the small reservoir in the bottom of the glass.

Authentic French Absinthe Fountain Set
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
only someone ignorant of the history, process, and properties of absinthe would post such an inane comment... if you don't like the flavor of anise, fine. don't diss an awesome product if you don't know anything about it.

Authentic French Absinthe Fountain Set
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
Looks cool, but have you actually had Abinthe? Its awfull! As soon as you open the bottle you are over powered by the worst smell of crazy strong black licorice you have ever smelled. Take a sip of it and itll make Jager taste like water, disgusting! If it went with a tasty liquor I would definately buy it cause it is really cool, but trust me, no side effects and very not worth the taste.

Authentic French Absinthe Fountain Set
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
