That is not the "largest". Allow me to introduce you to Verismo Leonetti Reserve Red, the 2006 (and possibly still) world record holder for the longest cat. http://www.verismocat.com/htmscripts/leo-guinness.htmLeo, as he's known, weighs in at 35lbs with a length of 4 feet from the tip of nose to tip of tail. He is a purebred Maine Coon, which is a very large breed already (my own isn't nearly so big, however, and is a mere 22lbs of not-fat cat).If you're going to promote something as the "largest" make sure it's the largest.

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
Um, yeah. The Ashera is just a Savannah cat...and there's not really any Leopard in them. It's all a money-making scheme by Lifestyle Pets. Just buy an F1 Savannah, they're much cheaper. I myself plan on getting a Savannah from either A1 Savannahs or from Cutting Edge Cats. They're reputable and much cheaper, especially at Cutting Edge.

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
I would NEVER TRADE AWAY any of my cats (even the funny looking one with no teeth left) for any other, no matter how exotic!I adopted them and promised to care for them, not trade them when a new model comes out.POOR NYLA!

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
I breed Savannahs and can tell you for a fact that they are not wild, do not kill small children or attack anything but bugs! I don\\\'t know where some people get their information, but it is wrong! For another thing, it has been proven that the Ashera cat is nothing other than an F1 Savannah. Brodie shipped 3 kittens overseas without the CITES and they were confiscated. The breeder of the kittens sent blood samples over there from his cats and they did a DNA test that proves that the Ashera is a F1 Savannah! Those people that want to spend $20,000 and up are fools when they can spend $4,500 and get the same thing.

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
What is all your problems? How dare you tell someone else how to live their life and spend their money. As someone earlier stated, it doesn't hurt or harm a cat to be crossbred with another. There ae millions of pound kitties to prove it. Just because you think someone else should support the humane society instead of buying an Ashera is like the government or friend or family telling you how to spend your money, or Obama trying to take all of your money. Change, cause that's all you'll have left in your pocket. Anyway, live and let live. I'm sure there is something you are doing in your life that someone else would like to tell you how to do. Would you like that? Losers. You are all pretty judgmental. Would like to see how perfect you are in all facets of your choices. These cats are fabulous and if someone has the money and will take care of them, then sobeit.

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
How can they possibly come up with another species of cat??!! There are so many poor kitties rotting away in Adoption and you all simply look away and oggle at the shiny new toy. Enough with the manufactured felines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!And for goodness\' sake, you are so shallow and superficial that you would trade away your cat for another?

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
Ok-my brother had an "ashera" and this is how they get them: they breed an asian leopard and a house cat (they get what is called a bengal) and then they breed the bengal with an african serval and they get the ashera or you can breed an african serval with a housecat (you get a savannah) and then breed the savannah with an asian leopard. These cats are way over priced and are not even recognized as a legimate breed. They are beautiful cats though and if I wanted one all I would have to do is go see either my brother or his friend that breeds them.

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
I know the owner was joking about giving away pet.You can tell that by the tone of the post. Also \"way to go\" all of those who got their pets from shelter.I have 7 rescue animals....2 of them are bengals. Yes people, you can get your exotic pet for just about free and sometimes free.Hard to imagine that people who pay good money for these pets actually don\'t look after them and they end up in shelters. There are many exotic rescues out there.Save them first. I can\'t believe so many people let their pets roam around the neighbourhood. The safest place for a cat is indoors.Less chance of picking up disease or getting injured.lost or stolen.Mine ar happy to sit in the window and look through the screen or when the weather is nice,I put them all in a huge kennnel outside for a short time and they love it.Bottom line:No need to spend big money on exotica.Give it to the local shelters and bide your time because sure as heck there will be an \"Ashera Rescue Network\" as well as the other exotics. You can bet on it because many people get these exotics for the look...not for the love and when they get tired of them, they let them go.A word to all who claim to love their pets.Do you faithfully take them to the vet for an annual checkup? If not and your animal succumbs to illness or contracted disease because you were to cheap...then you do not love your animal enough and probably shouldn\'t have them. Also, for those of you who do not know....humans can get rabies....don\'t believe me? google it or ask your vet!

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
Isn't it true, as with the Bengal, that their has to be a middle generation between the cermal and jungle cat and those are subsequentlly euphanized? So you're killing two cats to make one incredably exspensive kitty?Dale

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
We own three female Savannah cats and find very few similarities between them and our domestic. As to those commenting on the potential viciousness based on their appearance, I can't imagine any such thing. Though none of ours are F1's or F2's we do have an F3, F4 and a SBT (purebred Savannah). Hairballs? Not from Savannah cats. They are highly intelligent and very trainable. In fact, it is my opinion that they are easier to train than most of the canines I know. Certainly more entertaining. They are very, very lovable and as gentle with the humans they own as any four-legged family member can be. As to the breed that started this thread, check the following link: http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20080205/news_1b5cats.html You may find it very interesting to learn that these ultra expensive cats may not be what they are claimed to be. You can get an idea of what the Savannah kittens look like by checking my photo galleries at www.sj-snelling.smugmug.comBest,Steve

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
I have a 31 pound Savannah and I certainly did NOT pay that type of money for him, he was more than a normal domestic cat however. He is actually prettier than the photos of this Ashea cat. He is more golden and his spots are jet black. He has "night eyes" on the back of his ears and is huge, he can stand up and put his front legs aroung my waist and give me a "kitty kiss" (lick) on my chin and I am 5'6"! They look identical. Sammy's grandfather was a full blooded Serval and his grandmother was a Bengal. His mother and father were Savannah's. This makes him the same as this Ashera cat, so why so much money for the Ashera cat!!!!! I'd ask for verifiable documention for lineage before I bought a Asherea cat!!! You might be buying a Savannah!! I think someone is making an awful lot of money by calling a Savannah a Ashera cat!

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
We have a Bengal which is also a cross from an Asian leopard cat. We brought him to Italy with us: he is beautiful, great fun, unusual and hugely territorial: so just our luck that one of our new neighbours in a rural village of less than 800 people also has a Bengal!! They fought a few weeks ago: and we now view the normally docile Archie with a new respect!!

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
so sad that you would trade away nyla for a designer cat that costs more money than many people make in a year. maybe you shouldn't have a pet at all, since it's obvious you care more about being fashionable than giving a loving home to a cat. hope nyla poops in your shoes.

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
First of all, the fact that you would trade away your pet in a heartbeat perhaps demonstrates you should not have a pet at all. Any animal is a lifelong commitment - it is not to be traded away for the next "cool thing" or whatever matches your new furniture or any of the other idiotic reasons people "trade in" their pets. If this is how you feel, do us ALL a favor - get one of those epets that aren't real that you can ignore without hurting anyone.Second there is absolutely no evidence this cat is what it claims to be - either as a viable "breed" or as a hypoallergenic cat. The company behind its development refuses to allow its methods to undergo standard scientific scrutiny - a hallmark of the fraudster. It's corporate history is also littered with failed ventures and venture capitalists who have been in and out of jail for defrauding investors.Third - any cat that uses wild blood in its development comes with a very serious risk of behavioral problems, from marking and territorialism (that it will defend violently) to inappropriate prey drive (anything smaller than it - i.e. toddlers - are prey). Without responsible breeders working diligently on outcrossing to domestics and breeding for temperament, these risks are immense. And when you breed to domestics for temperament, you generally end up with a regular sized, brown tabby house cat. So, exactly how much responsible breeding do you think is happening for this 22 pound leopard lookalike? Yeah.I'm all for free markets but the more research I do on this company the dirtier they sound. They're targeting Russia for sales - because they're well aware that multiple, confirmed and open scientific evaluation has proven many lines of Siberians - an abundant, far less expensive and completely domestic cat - are *naturally* deficient in the element that causes most human allergic reactions. So if you have a need for a hypoallergenic cat - and even Allerca will tell you there is no such thing as a 100% guaranteed hypoallergenic cat - you're a lot better off, meaning your family is safer and you'll spend far less, looking for a Siberian whose lines test for this particular anomaly. Visit some Sphynx breeders and Cornish Rex breeders - they may have cats that work for you too.I think it's sad that anyone would even consider buying into this trash. There are enough fabulous breeds out there and wonderful moggies up for adoption in rescues. We don't need "designer" everything in this country.

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
What is the difference between purchasing an expensive cat like this and going down to the pound and picking up a mutt? Either way the result is the same, a home for one cat. There is no moral higher ground to stand on when saying that you bought a cat that represents the beauty of genetic accomplishment by professional breeders vs a cat that careless owners allowed their cat to produce offspring that they didn\'t know what to do with! Obvious arguments about which animal is clearly better aside, there is no reason to think that this cats breed should be driven to extinction to protect the overabundance of more common species such as tabby and calico.

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
First, I think it's interesting how humorless most of your readers seem to be. Why is everyone so quick to assume that thegreenhead was serious about trading in his kitty? (Clue #1: Observe the type of merchandise that is displayed below. Is this the kind of merchandise you would expect a person who would coldly give away his or her kitty to display?) Haven't y'all ever said, "I'd trade my granny in a heartbeat" or "I"d trade my husband" or any such thing, jokingly, in your lives?Second, I'll put in another plug for Bengals. While not free, I feel my cats' loving and doglike personalities were well-worth their $600 "adoption fee." They're beautiful, wild, affectionate and friendly cats who roam our house as if they were wild creatures but who sleep curled up on our beds like the docile housepets they are. One of them insists on sleeping UNDER the covers with us, the other likes her space, but I wouldn't trade either of them for an Ashera. Or a Ssavannah, whatever that is.But if I had the money, would I want an Ashera? You bet I would.

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
Poor Nyla. I wish she had a home that wouldn't give her away so easily for this waste of money and time. It's a knock-off Savannah at a ridiculous price tag.

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
I think its a GREAT creature and I\'m gonna buy one if I can. Sure its expensive but then so is a porsche.....yet folks spend tons of cash on that and then flood the enviorenment with more pollution. I\'d rather have the ULTIMATE CAT, and a conversation piece like none other. This is NOT the Savannah cat nor is it the same as the Savannah cat i soon found out after doing some research. Thats like saying a volkswagen is a porsche. Sure they\'re both german but BIG difference. Thats why folks pay more. Some don\'t even mind paying 1,200,000 for a new Bugati. I would. But getting one of these is too cool, its nature, and it\'s beautiful. Sure I could get a stray cat and help save it and I already have but this is gonna make trips to the park MUCH more interesting.

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
I just heard about this cat on NPR. I still have the same doubts as everyone here. My cats are persians and I rescued them from inhumane breeders. I hope that these big cats will never suffer that sort of thing for the kind of money they are worth. It sounds like the One Breeder plans on being the ONLY Breeder. This will get worse as the breed proliferates however. More gene doctoring and poof! I got a domesticated Lion in my house.

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
I'm going to get one of these as soon as I save up the money. And if it's anything like my Bengal then I will be more than satisfied. One thing they say about Bengals is that they are a dog in a cat suit. Everything I read about the Ashera gives me the impression that these will be like a dog in a BIG cat suit. I can't wait to get one. My six yorkies need another playmate, especially one that will put them in their place when needed.

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
If any of you think that your "Domestic" is truly domestic then you should have watched the special on Discovery Channel about domestic cats. Yes, they are cute and cuddly when they are in the house or in your backyard. But when they leave their area thy are on the hunt for birds and rodents. Statistics have shown that bird populations are lower in neighborhoods with free roaming domestic cats. I know I have three cats and my pretty Persian brings home the most birds. That's because she finds the nests and takes the baby birds. My Bengal brings home bigger ones as well as squirls and rabbits. The Ashera is a beautiful cat and probably has a similar temperment to my Bengal which is very playful and very intelligent. Bengals and Savannahs are bred from the Asian Leopard Cat and the Afican Serval respectively with a domestic cat. The Ashera is bred from the Asian Leopard Cat and the Afican Serval together then that mix is bred with a domestic cat. No difference, just price.

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
No, the reason they spay/neuter the kitty is totally to protect their "investment". They definitely would not want anyone breeding their "copywright". It's all for the big $$$$ they don't give a damn about the "integrity of the breed" they're there to make alot of money. Also, you bet the cat would rip everyone(including yourself)to shreads. It's an animal. I don't care how "domestic" they say it is....an animal still has "instincts"!!!!!!!!!

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
Shit! If you let that cat out for a walk I'm sure it would clean up all the neighbour-hood cats for breakfast!

Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat
Click Here to Read Full Post and Comments
