It's getting so hard to find anything that isn't made of plastic anymore. Finding anything that is original or even handmade is getting to be darn near impossible too. Well, I was looking for a small kitchen radio that I could hook my mp3 player into and I came across these really cool Singgih Kartono Magno Wooden Radios.
Not only are these Magno Wooden Radios aesthetically simple and refreshingly non-tech, they are handmade by Indonesian carpenters in areas with high unemployment of two-toned sustainable harvested woods. Designer Singgih Kartono wanted to manufacture a product that was both sustainable and socially beneficial and I think he has more than succeeded. The radios come in three sizes and have the most current mp3 player compatible electronics and AM/FM and shortwave radio bands.
If you get a Magno Wooden Radio, not only will you be helping out people and the planet, you will have something of actual value that is genuinely handcrafted and uniquely original. That is definitely cool.
