Slide And Negative To Digital Picture Converter

How many of you have boxes and boxes of old slides and negatives sitting on a shelf in a closet somewhere gathering dust? It's not a lot of fun to pull out that old slide projector either and it probably doesn't even work! It's time to back up and preserve those past memories of family, friends and vacations before they are lost forever.

The cool new Slide And Negative To Digital Picture Converter converts your old 35mm slides and film negatives into digital images easily without having to rely on a pricey conversion service. Simply plug the USB device into your PC, place your slides or negatives onto the tray, touch the button and sit back as they are scanned and converted into professional-quality digital copies without any loss of resolution right onto your hard drive. Good news for your old photos, bad news for everyone who now has to sit through yet another slide show of the "good old days".

Update: This is an all-new version that is now Windows Vista compatible and requires USB 2.0. Also, if you have a lot of slides and negatives to scan there is now a package of Six Additional Trays available.

K.Heissner,
Ran into the same problem with loading the OVTFboot.dll file. Haven't tried downloading the file yet, but just talked to customer service at H-S. They say my computer (laptop) is not compatible or that I haven't done all the system updates, then told me to try it on a desktop!... (It's a brand new Dell D830 w/ XP Pro with auto updates turned on.) Very frustrating!

I have scimmed through all the comments with regards to scamming 35mm negatives for restoration/preserving. Now generally speaking you would want any picture that you hope to print to be scanned at 2400dpi minimum and converted to 300dpi for printing. Due to the nature of scanning negatives you want to make sure the scanner being used specific for scanning negatives. Though this device seems to produce a desired outcome at what resolution does it provide it and does any editing have to be done afterwards? Though it may be a quick solution it also might not be the best if you have high hopes.

I just used the scanner today and found it satisfactory. The quality of scan is not great and it does take a long time to load for saving. However, I purchased extra trays and while the scans are loading, I re-load the trays with 12 slides so am ready to go again. It would be impossibly slow if you are only using the one tray that holds 3 slides, but it is much better than my regular scanner.

Not the greatest resolution, but I have a few thousand slides packed away for about 50 years and would never look at them again, except for this. It will probably take me a year to transfer all of them, but I have the time. My kids are ecstatic that they are seeing these images of their childhood.

I bought it for my husband and i\'m very frustrated because I spent $116.00 (including shipping) and it is not scanning the slides. I installed the driver and the software. I restarted the computer (Windows XP) and still was getting an error message. I started the software to see if it would work anyways, and though it opens the program, it\'s not recognizing the device (the slide scanner). ARGHHH!

I\'m waiting for the tech support to call me back.

Anyone has helpful hints for me?

This is me - from previous post.

I called the company and, sadly, my USB port is not USB 2 as required.

I thought my USB port in the back of my Gateway motherboard will work but I guess I was wrong. I know my computer is old but I didn't know that the required USB 2 port if much different.

Oh well... now i need to spend the money AGAIN on shipping it back!

I have MacBook Pro and hope I will find something that is comparable with MACs. Anyone can help me with that?

Thanks

I tried two of these and returned them both. Easy to setup and use on both XP and Vista, but the output quality was really poor. Either way over exposed or underexposed. Do not waste your money on this.

Using the Hammacher - - why are the resolution options grayed out? There are seven options but no ability to tone down the resolution level. I think that's why it takes so long to transfer.

I have 35mm roll microfilms. Am I able to use the "Slide and Negative to Digital Picture Converter" to feed the microfilm through this device to make digital images?
Thank you
