Slide And Negative To Digital Picture Converter

How many of you have boxes and boxes of old slides and negatives sitting on a shelf in a closet somewhere gathering dust? It's not a lot of fun to pull out that old slide projector either and it probably doesn't even work! It's time to back up and preserve those past memories of family, friends and vacations before they are lost forever.

The cool new Slide And Negative To Digital Picture Converter converts your old 35mm slides and film negatives into digital images easily without having to rely on a pricey conversion service. Simply plug the USB device into your PC, place your slides or negatives onto the tray, touch the button and sit back as they are scanned and converted into professional-quality digital copies without any loss of resolution right onto your hard drive. Good news for your old photos, bad news for everyone who now has to sit through yet another slide show of the "good old days".

Update: This is an all-new version that is now Windows Vista compatible and requires USB 2.0. Also, if you have a lot of slides and negatives to scan there is now a package of Six Additional Trays available.

I am looking at purchasing the slide and negative to digital picture converter.
Reading the guest comments I see that many users are using this product with Windows Vista, even though the seller states that it works only with Windows XP. WHICH IS THE CORRECT ANSWER?? My PC has Vista loaded on it.

Thanks for your help. Scott

C. Thanks for getting back to me. I have been transfering slides using a 4 MP camera with a slide on a light box. This works well if you have a decent slide to begin with as you said but it's tedious. I will give this unit a try as it seems easier & quicker.

Does it work with Windows 2000 please?
Its being advertised in UK at £99.95 thats $210.00 !!
Also if you think about it, its a one time use throw away item isnt it? Unless folks club together and pass it round, would be much more economical!

The manufacturer is Vupoint Solutions. You can also download the manual on the site.

According to the manual if I am reading it right the sensor is a CMOS and over 5 mp. Looking for a valid review before buying one.

I just ordered one on-line from Frontgate. Site says it is in stock. Was $99.95 plus $14 shipping, no sales tax [I'm in NY]. I decided not to wait as after reading the manual it seems pretty good.

A previous guest states that quality is only good enough for 3" x 5" When slides are all digitized, then transferred to a CD or DVD, will the resultant images be OK for normal TV viewing - say on a 26" TV?

I just ordered this from Hammacher.com and used code 500231. Although item does not go over the $100 amount, the order was confirmed with no shipping and no (Florida) sales tax. Total delivered price $99.95

I called Hammacher and this does not work with slides or negatives smaller than 35 mm (such as 110 or 128 film). The one advertised at Brookstone is compatible with Vista (supposedly), and the Hammacher one is supposed to only be compatible with XP. I am interested in one that converts multiple formats - any feedback on that?? We have lots of old 110 and 128 film.
