I have a little gray cat with a raccoon tail named Nyla and she's very sweet, but I would trade her away in a heartbeat for an Ashera - World's Largest, Rarest and Most Exotic $20,000 House Cat. The Ashera is like a mini-Leopard, spots and all, but it's really a cool blend between an African Serval and the Asian Leopard Cat bred with a domestic cat. This giant house cat can reach weights up to 30 pounds, can be walked on a leash, is highly intelligent and surprisingly gets along well with people and children. The downside of an Ashera is of course the $20,000 price tag and the fact that when the cat is just "playing" I will be getting chased through the neighborhood being filmed from the air by Discovery Channel. One cool kittie though.

I predict this to be the new killer gangsta pet replacing the boring old pit bull!

I heard that there are some European countries which forbid the entry of those cats.

so sad that you would trade away nyla for a designer cat that costs more money than many people make in a year. maybe you shouldn't have a pet at all, since it's obvious you care more about being fashionable than giving a loving home to a cat. hope nyla poops in your shoes.

You would trade away your sweet little Nyla in a heartbeat for an Ashera? What is wrong with you?!? Cats are living breathing creatures that need love! They weren't just put here to make you more "fashionable." I also have a sweet little cat. Her name is Twinkle, she's my best friend and I wouldn't give her away for all the money or Asheras/Savannahs/etc in the world!!

We have a Bengal which is also a cross from an Asian leopard cat. We brought him to Italy with us: he is beautiful, great fun, unusual and hugely territorial: so just our luck that one of our new neighbours in a rural village of less than 800 people also has a Bengal!! They fought a few weeks ago: and we now view the normally docile Archie with a new respect!!

I have a 31 pound Savannah and I certainly did NOT pay that type of money for him, he was more than a normal domestic cat however. He is actually prettier than the photos of this Ashea cat. He is more golden and his spots are jet black. He has "night eyes" on the back of his ears and is huge, he can stand up and put his front legs aroung my waist and give me a "kitty kiss" (lick) on my chin and I am 5'6"! They look identical. Sammy's grandfather was a full blooded Serval and his grandmother was a Bengal. His mother and father were Savannah's. This makes him the same as this Ashera cat, so why so much money for the Ashera cat!!!!! I'd ask for verifiable documention for lineage before I bought a Asherea cat!!! You might be buying a Savannah!! I think someone is making an awful lot of money by calling a Savannah a Ashera cat!

We own three female Savannah cats and find very few similarities between them and our domestic. As to those commenting on the potential viciousness based on their appearance, I can't imagine any such thing. Though none of ours are F1's or F2's we do have an F3, F4 and a SBT (purebred Savannah). Hairballs? Not from Savannah cats. They are highly intelligent and very trainable. In fact, it is my opinion that they are easier to train than most of the canines I know. Certainly more entertaining. They are very, very lovable and as gentle with the humans they own as any four-legged family member can be. As to the breed that started this thread, check the following link: http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20080205/news_1b5cats.html You may find it very interesting to learn that these ultra expensive cats may not be what they are claimed to be. You can get an idea of what the Savannah kittens look like by checking my photo galleries at www.sj-snelling.smugmug.com

KEEP NYLA!!

DON'T BREED OR BUY WHEN ANIMALS IN THE SHELTER HAVE TO DIE!!!

There are MILLIONS of PREFECTLY FINE adoptable cats and dogs, kittens and puppies, rabbits and ferrets in the shelters who have to DIE because there are NOT ENOUGH HOMES FOR THEM ALL!!
