Shoot The Moon Game - Can You Roll A Ball Uphill?
Shoot The Moon Game - Can You Roll A Ball Uphill?

Shoot the Moon ($22) is an old fashioned wooden game that's been around since the 40s, but I recently played with it a friend's house and it's awesome! Basically all you do is place the metal ball on the metal rails at the bottom and slowly, very slowly, spread the metal rails apart at the top. The metal ball will now magically roll uphill towards you! The object of the game is to see who can get the ball to roll the furthest without it falling. Underneath the rails are holes that the ball drops into that gives you a score. I swear it's the most fun addictive thing I've played with in years. The one pictured is called Space Force, but it's the same thing.

I just bought one of these for $6 at a flea market (ours is called "Defy it!") and my family has been obsessed with it for the past 48 hours! None of us has been able to make it past Mars, but I guarantee you we'll keep trying!

I was trying to find out more information about this and it was actually introduced in 1920, according to a few sources. We love that something engineered so long ago (whether it be 60 years or 80!) can still hold our attention today, and we think it's sad that more kids and families aren't as into spending time with these types of games as they are their Xboxes and PlayStations.

Mine is called Gravitation. The kids across the street always loved playing it so I got on line to see if I could buy them one as they are moving but I am certainly not going to pay $20+.
