The Plantarium ($24) is a neat little space-age greenhouse that basically lets you grow plant seedlings in a transparent gel so you can watch the roots grow. Although not as cool as the Antworks - Space Age Ant Colony, it still sounds fascinating to be able watch from the root point of view.
