120-M.P.H. Electric Car - Only $108,000!!!

Got $108,000 to blow on a car? You might after you stop paying for over-priced gas and get a 120 MPH Electric Car ($108,000)! I know most of you are thinking that a dinky slow electric car really can't cut it in the real world. Well this new electric car with two electric motors will blow the doors off most sports cars with its screaming fast 4 second 0-60 time, 1,000 lbft of torque and 120 mph top speed. Even cooler is that it looks similar to a covered motorcycle where a driver and passenger both ride in tandem which makes maneuvering through congestion a breeze. The design even allows it to park perpendicularly to make parallel parking a snap. It's ridiculously safe too. Not only does it have a very low center of gravity anchored by 1100 lbs of batteries underneath to prevent rollover, the body panels are made up of carbon fiber, Kevlar, and fiberglass covering a stainless steel chasis, chrome moly roll cage and side impact bars. It even has those 4 point seat belts like in race cars!

Yeah it's pricey for an electric car, I don't know how you would change 1100 lbs in batteries and the 40-80 miles per recharge (MPR?) is a little weak, but to never have to fill up at the pump again, produce zero emissions, ease traffic congestion and always get curious glances from onlookers makes it a smug treehugger and celeb dream car. Just lower that price and the rest of the world may be interested too.  -  ( 6 Comments )

Just curious, that exorbitant amount of electricity required for the frequent recharges...are you assuming it was produced by a zero-emissions power plant? Otherwise, the 'zero emissions' claim may hold true for the car, but it doesn't really solve anything on a larger scale. At best, it just puts the problem in someone else's hands at the coal power plant.

TheSiteSucks, here is something for you to consider: When are you going to go that fast? Isn\'t it more fun to have a car that whips everything else at ordinary speeds? Also, can you name me one other streetcar with 1000 lbft of torque?

And a little something for Anon, yes, there is still the problem of who\'s producing the electricity, but it is a huge step in the right direction, wouldn\'t you agree? Besides, try stuff like solar panels on your roof, that ought to lessen the lectrical bills somewhat.

This car is ridiculous. First, why make a car that looks like it goes ten miles an hour, i mean no one wants to get laughed at my their friends. Take a nice honda S2000 frame, load that with batteries and an electric motor. Next 108,000 dollars? WHAT!!! the motor costs about 500-1000 dollars in raw material, at most. the batteries cost about 1000-5000 dollars new and the labor is all done by machinery. The wheels, frame, lights and and interior are probably about 7,000 dollars. And again this is the high end of the spectrum. so for a profit of 3,000 dollars for every car sold the price tag should say 15,000 dollars. this is a VERY reasonable price for a car the will save you loads on gas, i say if you have the money, go to the junkyard peel off the frame of a nice car, paint it buy a cr*pload of batteries and a huge electric engine ( one is very easily built) and put it together for a fraction of the cost of this ugly car that makes the stereotype of electric car grow even more out of proportion.
