15 Million Candlepower Spotlight/Flashlight - World's Brightest Flashlight!

We thought the 10 Million Candlepower spotlight/flashlight was the ultimate in personal illumination, but now the record has been completely outshined with a 15 Million Candlepower Spotlight/Flashlight! I have the 10 million candlepower version and I am beyond impressed with it, but now I really wish I would have waited. If you're looking for the World's Brightest Flashlight, this is it. Even better, it's relatively inexpensive and comes with a Lifetime Guarantee.

Interesting looking lamp… However, there is no way a standard H4 Quartz Halogen bulb could produce 15,000,000 candlepower without being so overdriven that it would burn out in under a minute.

I work in Film and TV SFX and the brightest, and there is no doubt that he most intensely bright lamp is a military/police lamp that is also used in the film industry because of the intense, crisp beam, which is perfect for making the scene appear darker on film than it really is due to the contrast, allowing the subject to be lit, while still allowing the light beam to be clearly visible. The light source (bulb) is of the xenon short-arc type.

However, xenon short arcs are neither efficient nor cheap (the ones seen on the x-files is over $1500), but they are unique in that the light they produce can be focused into a very narrow and powerful beam. Xenon short arcs are the types of lights you see on police helicopters. Their only drawback for flashlight use is their relatively low efficiency, and thus, they require fairly large and heavy (7 pounds)NiMH batteries for full-power run-times of over 2 hours. Luckily, they are computer controlled (that’s the biggest reason for their high-cost) and the output can be reduced to various levels to extend their battery run time, making them perfect for the Police and Search and Rescue ops,, etc.

We have one in our shop from our work on Day After Tomorrow, and it’s proven itself handy in a recent power outage.

All that said… For $70, aside from it’s bulky size, it’s probably well worth the price.

OK for all of you tech guys, I am looking for the the brighest 12v direct plugin (not rechargable) hand held spot light. Cyclops says theirs is 3.5 mill with a 100 watt H3 halogen bulb, and Bright Star has one they claim is 2 mill with a Hyper Halogen HH4-55 8 amps, 100 watt bulb. Since I gather there is no really standard in measuring “Candle Power” anyone know which one is brighter??

And if some of you tech guys have a good idea of how to make a “really bright” hand held light let me know and let’s build one!!!

My son bought one and we lit up one side of our neighbor’s house in the middle of the night – accidentally of course.

It’s brighter than anything you will ever really need and that is why it is so good. It’s really big too.

I bought a 15 million candlepower spotlight from fred meyer for $30 and it works great. Even if its only “11.25” million candlepower its still brighter, more economical, and better than any other flashlight I have ever owned.

ugh i cant believe you people! its the worlds brightest FLASHLIGHT, not SPOTLIGHT.

learn to READ, people!

a spotlight is meant to be aimed at a target; a flaslight is meant to be held in one’s hand to light an area.

Whatever it is, it’s getting pointed to the sky so people can find my house easier at night!

For those of you who gripe about the “inflated” candlepower claims, I dare you to look from the side at the bulb of my 5 million candlepower spotlight… It will literally burn your retina and it is the brightest spotlight I’ve ever seen.. I can fully illuminate buildings over a mile away … I’ve shined it next to a 1 million candlepower light and there is absolutely no comparison. The 15 million candlepower light must be awesome….and yes, I am a light geek!
